Elizabeth I.’s ‘Sweet Robin’., Robert Dudley, the Earl of Leicester. A poem, penned by Elizabeth, ‘Upon Monsieur’s Departure’, in French, is supposed to be about Francis, Duc of Anjou and Alencon. But, Dudley left court at the same time as the Duke. I believe the poem was penned about Dudley.
