20 DIY Wooden Planter Boxes for Your Yard or Patio – Planters – Ideas of Planters #Planters – Wooden planters are attractive and easy to make. Build your own from pressure-treated timber using our practical guide from BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine. Be the envy of the neighborhood or create a magical patio space with our 3, 4, 5 or 6′ Vertical Cedar Ladder Planter! This gorgeous show stopper can be used to create a wall of cascading flowers or an ideal growing space for strawberries, vegetables or herbs. Even without any foliage you will enjoy the crisp clean smell of the cedar which is naturally water and insect resistant. Folks, be sure to research the type of wood being used in the planter you purchase. You will not find a wood that will hold up better to the elements than cedar! Additionally, please be aware that if you are purchasing “treated” woods, these are treated with a variety of toxic chemicals that are not suitable for growing food in and you will need to wash after touching these types of woods. Additionally, if you choose a “pallet wood” please also be aware that these are typically pine, a wood known for having the fastest decay rate and often treated with the carcinogen methyl bromide. We craft our planters with 100% untreated, all natural, cedar that has been the preferred choice for outdoor use for ages. Our gardeners also appreciate knowing that we complete each box with small drainage holes for ideal growing conditions. This item ships in 2-3 boxes, one with the assembled planter boxes and one with the legs. All of the screw holes are pre-drilled for easy assembly with a basic screwdriver and no guess work. Screws are of course included as well. This year we have added a 3 and 4′ high option. These have 3 and 4 boxes respectively rather than 5. All 5′ planters have 5 boxes and all 6′ options have 6 boxes.
