Picking the right swimsuit for your body type.

If you are looking to slim those thighs, it’s always best to wear high cut bottoms to elongate the look of your legs and away from the width of your thighs. You want to keep your bottoms simple, while bringing the focus to you top (a nice triangle top with a cute print would do the trick nicely!)

Not as busty as you would like to be? Don’t blow the bank with a doctor, simply try these styles out and feel more shapely out on the sand! Ruffles, beads, pleats, and underwire tops creates bulk and draws the eye to your bust. Triangle and bandeau tops tend to flatten your bust, giving you an adverse effect.

Looking to minimize that tummy (like me)? Shy away from the disco ball effect! Shiny materials enhance every lump, bump, and bulge! Stick to matte materials as they soften your body. Tankinis are a no-no as they tend to cling and rise up. The best way to go is a high cut or deep V neck to draw attention away from your mid section. Rouching is always a plus when minimizing your mid section.

Overly blessed in the chest? This should come as a no brainer, but stay away from triangle tops and high neck lines! They give zero support and the higher the neck, the more you create a uniboob…. yeah, I said it, uniboob. Underwires and hidden bras are an absolute must (especially if you are bigger than a D cup).

Looking to enhance your curves overall? Stripes and wrap styles are your friend! Stripes that are vertical or diagonal are best as they accentuate your curves. Wrap styles helps to cinch your waist and minimize your mid section. Be careful with bikinis, as they tend to dig into your waist and create more bulge.

I would also like to add, for my curvy girls, the new trendy high waist bikini is awesome, but it is not for all of us (I’m a proud size 16). There should be no bulge between the top and bottom, there should be smooth lines and your breasts should be well supported.

While I have always believed in the rule of “sizing down” for swimsuits to ensure a better fit, I now realize that, even though it works for some swimsuits, smaller sizes can work against you as you lose the right fit in one place, to get a better fit in another. Choose your sizes wisely ladies.

At the end of the day, I always say, if you feel 100% confident when you walk out of the house, then you automatically look beautiful!
